रजनी ने कहा, “कितनी मेधावी लड़की है प्रज्ञा!”
संजीव ने कहा, “कितनी गन्दी है ये जगह!”
राहुल ने कहा, “कितनी अजीब लड़की है शिल्पा!”
मैंने कहा, “कितनी अँधेरी रात है यह!”
उसने कहा, “कैसा मुर्ख हूँ मैं!”
उन लोगो ने कहा, “कितना तेज दौड़ता है रवि!”
हम लोगो ने कहा, “कैसी ठण्ड है आज की रात!”
उसने कहा, “कितने धोखेबाज हो तुम!”

Exclamatory Sentences (विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य)
Exclamatory Sentences से प्रायः
Joy / Delight (हर्ष / प्रसन्नता),
Grief / Sorrow (विवाद / दुःख),
wonder / surprise (आश्चर्य),
Anger (क्रोध),
Contempt – (तिरस्कार),
Applaus – (प्रशंसा / वाहवाही),
Regret (पश्चाताप / अफ़सोस), इत्यादि भाव व्यक्त होते है।
इन्हे Indirect Speech में इस प्रकार बदला जाता है:
(i) Reporting Speech के अर्थ / भाव के अनुसार Reporting Verb ‘said’ को exclaimed with joy / delight, exclaimed with grif / sorrow, exclaimed with wonder / surprise, exclaimed with contempt, exclaimed with applause, exclaimed with regret इत्यादि में बदल दिया जाता है।
(ii) Inverted Commas को हटा कर that का व्यवहार किया जाता है।
(iii) Hurrah / Hurray!, Alas! Oh!, Ah!, Bravo! इत्यादि शब्दों को हटा दिया जाता है।
(iv) Exclamatory Sentences को Assertive Sentence में बदल दिया जाता है।
(v) Sentence के अंत में Full Stop का व्यवहार होता है।
Note:
(a) कभी – कभी Inverted Commas के भीतर अधूरे वाक्य रहते है। ऐसी स्थिति में Verb तथा अन्य शब्द अपनी और से जोड़े जाते है ताकि निहित भाव स्पष्ट हो सके।
(b) Exclamatory Sentence को Assertive Sentence में इस प्रकार बदला जाता है:
- What a dark night it is! (Exclamatory)
It is a very dark night. (Assertive)
It’s a very dark night. (Assertive)
- What an idiot you are! (Exclamatory)
You are a big idiot. (Assertive)
You’re a big idiot. (Assertive)
You are a great idiot. (Assertive)
You’re a great idiot. (Assertive)
- What a place! (Exclamatory)
It is a very fine place. (Assertive)
It’s a very fine place. (Assertive)
It is a strange place. (Assertive)
