A. नीचे के वाक्यों को ध्यान से पढ़ें:
1. टहलना लाभदायक है। | It is useful to walk. It’s useful to walk.

2. चोरी करना अपराध है। | It is a crime to steal. It’s a crime to steal.
|
3. धूम्रपान करना हानिकारक है। | It is injurious to smoke. It’s injurious to smoke. It is harmful to smoke. It’s harmful to smoke.

4. अंग्रेजी सीखना कठिन नहीं है। | It is not difficult to learn English. It isn’t difficult to learn English.
|
5. धन (रुपया – पैसा) बर्बाद करना मूर्खता है। | It is foolish to waste money. It’s foolish to waste money.
|
6. झूठ बोलना बुरी बात है। | It is a bad thing to tell a lie. It’s a bad thing to tell a lie.

ऊपर के वाक्यों के कर्ता कार्यबोधक शब्द हैं। ऐसे वाक्यों के अंग्रेज़ी अनुवाद में Introductory ‘It’ का व्यवहार होता है। अंग्रेज़ी अनुवाद में Sentence का शब्द – क्रम होता है:
B. नीचे के वाक्यों को ध्यान से पढ़ें:
Introductory ‘It’ + Verb + Adjective / Noun + Infinitive + Other words.
1. मैं ही तो हूँ। |
It is I. It’s me.

2. तुम (लोग) ही तो हो। आप (लोग) ही तो हैं। | It is you. It’s you.
|
3. रवि ही तो है। नेहा ही तो है। | It is Rabi. It’s Rabi. It is Neha. It’s Neha.
|
4. वे (लोग) ही तो हैं। | It is they. It is them.
|
5. मैं ही तो ज़िम्मेदार हूँ। मैं ही तो हूँ जो ज़िम्मेदार है। | It is I who am responsible. It’s me who is responsible.
|
6. हम (लोग) ही तो दोषी हैं। हम (लोग) ही तो हैं जो दोषी हैं। | It is we who are guilty.
|
7. मैंने ही तो यह काम किया है। मैं ही तो है जिसने यह काम किया है। | It is I who have done this work.
|
8. राजू ने ही तो खिड़की तोड़ी है। राजू ही तो है जिसने खिड़की तोड़ी है। | It is Raju who has broken the window.
|
9. वे (लोग) ही तो वहाँ गये हैं। वे (लोग) ही तो हैं जो वहाँ गये हैं। | It is they who have gone there.
|
10. उसने ही तो तुम्हें अपमानित किया है। उसने ही तो आपको अपमानित किया है। वही तो है जिसने तुम्हें अपमानित किया है। वही तो है जिसने आपको अपमानित किया है। | It is he who has insulted you. It is she who has insulted you. |
ऊपर के वाक्यों के अंग्रेज़ी अनुवाद में Introductory ‘It’ का व्यवहार हुआ है। Introductory ‘It’ के ऐसे व्यवहार को Emphatic Use of Introductory It’ कहा जाता है।
Note:
(a) Introductory ‘It’ के बाद हमेशा Singular Verb का व्यवहार होता है।
(b) It is के बाद आने वाला Pronoun कर्ता कारक (Nominative Case) या कर्म कारक (Objective Case) में रहता है।
जैसे:
It is I.
It is me.
It is he.
It is him.
It is she.
It is her.
It is they.
It is them.
परन्तु ऐसे वाक्यों में यदि who / which / that cause का व्यवहार हो, तो Pronoun हमेशा कर्ता कारक में रहता है तथा who / which / that के बाद आने वाली Verb का रूप It is के बाद आये Noun / Pronoun के अनुसार होता है।
जैसे:
It is I who have helped them.
It is he who has written this letter.
It is she who has written this letter.
It is they who have cheated you.
It is our good behaviour which makes us respectable.
It is our good behaviour that makes us respectable.
It is these boys who have done this.
