Do into English (first in Direct Speech and then in Indirect Speech) :

प्राचार्य ने चपरासी से कहा कि (एक) कुर्सी लाओ।

शिक्षक ने छात्रों से कहा है कक्षा में शांति बनाये रखो।

चिकित्सक ने रोगी से कहा कि समय से दवा लो।

उसने मुझसे कहा कि कृपया मेरी बेटी को पढ़ा दें।

मालिक ने नौकर से कहा कि बाज़ार जाओ।

रवि ने राजेश से कहा कि मुझे परेशान मत करो।

मेरे पुत्र ने मुझसे कहा कि कृपया मुझे (एक) लैपटॉप खरीद दें।

शिक्षक ने हमलोगों से कहा कि शोरगुल मत करो।

जज ने वकील से कहा कि गवाहों को पेश करें।

राजीव ने अपने छोटे भाई से कहा कि रुपया – पैसा बैंक में जमा कर दो।

चिकित्सक ने कहा कि शराब मत पीओ।

वकील ने मुवक्किलं से कहा कि सारे कागज़ात तुरंत लाओ।

पिता ने पुत्र से कहा कि जुआ मत खेलो।

उसने शिक्षक से कहा कि महोदय, कृपया मेरी सहायता करें।

मैंने अपने मित्र से कहा कि झूठ मत बोलो।

कप्तान ने सैनिकों से कहा कि गोली चलाओ।

उसने मुझसे कहा कि मुझे घर जाने दें।

मैंने अपने मित्र से कहा कि टहलने चलें।

शांति बनाये रखना – to maintain silence,

परेशान करना – to vex, to disturb,

शोरगुल करना – to make a noise,

गवाह – witness,

पेश करना – to produce,

जमा करना to deposit,

शराब पीना – to drink (wine),

कागज़ात – paper / document,

जुआ खेलना – to gamble,

झूठ बोलना – to tell a lie,

गोली चलाना – to fire,

संग्रहालय – museum.

Imperative Sentences (आज्ञासूचक वाक्य)

Imperative Sentences से प्राय: Order (आदेश), Request (अनुरोध), Advice (परामर्श) या Prohibition (निषेध) का बोध होता है। इन्हें Indirect Speech में बदलने के लिए सामान्य नियमों के अलावा निम्नलिखित विशेष नियमों का पालन किया जाता है:

 

(i) Reported Speech के अर्थ / भाव के अनुसार Reporting Verb ‘say’ को tell / ask / order / command / request / advise / suggest propose / forbid / prohibit इत्यादि में बदल दिया जाता है।

 

(ii) Direct Speech में Reporting Verb के बाद Object रहे या न रहे, Indirect Speech में Reporting Verb के बाद Object निश्चित रूप से दिया जाता है।

 

(iii) Inverted Commas को हटाकर to / not to का व्यवहार किया जाता है। (iv) Reported Speech में व्यवहृत Please / Kindly / Sir / Madam इत्यादि शब्दों को हटा दिया जाता है।

नीचे के वाक्यों को ध्यान से पढ़ें:

  1. मालिक ने नौकर से कहा कि एक गिलास पानी लाओ।

The master said to the servant, “Bring a glass of water.” (Direct)

The master ordered the servant to bring a glass of water. (Indirect)

 

  1. उसने मुझसे कहा कि कृपया मेरी सहायता करें।

He said to me, “Please help me.” (Direct)

He said to me, “Kindly help me.” (Direct)

He requested me to help him. (Indirect)

 

She said to me, “Please help me.” (Direct)

She said to me, “Kindly help me.” (Direct)

She requested me to help her. (Indirect)

 

  1. चिकित्सक ने रोगी से कहा कि दवा का सेवन नियमित रूप से करो।

The doctor said to the patient, “Take medicine regularly.” (Direct)

The doctor advised the patient to take medicine regularly. (Indirect)

 

  1. शिक्षक ने छात्रों से कहा कि शांत रहो।

The teacher said to the students, “Keep silent.” (Direct)

The teacher told the students to keep silent. (Indirect)

The teacher asked the students to keep silent. (Indirect)

 

  1. कप्तान ने सैनिकों से कहा कि आगे बढ़ो।

The captain said to the soldiers, “March forward.” (Direct)

The captain commanded the soldiers to march forward. (Indirect)

 

  1. माँ ने बच्चे से कहा कि धूप में मत दौड़ो।

The mother said to the child, “Don’t run in the sun.” (Direct)

The mother told the child not to run in the sun. (Indirect)

The mother asked the child not to run in the sun. (Indirect)

The mother forbade the child to run in the sun. (Indirect)

The mother prohibited the child from running in the sun. (Indirect)

 

Note: Forbid के बाद to का व्यवहार होता है और prohibit के बाद from का। यह भी याद रखें कि to के बाद Verb के मूल रुप (Base From) और from के बाद Verb + – ing का व्यवहार किया जाता है।

 

  1. उसने हमलोगों से कहा कि मुझे जाने दें।

He said to us, “Let me go.” (Direct)

He told us to let him go. (Indirect)

He asked us to let him go. (Indirect)

She said to us, “Let me go.” (Direct)

She told us to let him go. (Indirect)

She asked us to let him go. (Indirect)

 

  1. राजेश ने विमल से कहा कि चिड़ियाघर चलें।

Rajesh said to Vimal, “Let us go to the zoo.” (Direct)

Rajesh suggested to Vimal that they should go to the zoo. (Indirect)

Rajesh proposed to Vimal that they should go to the zoo. (Indirect)

 

  1. मेरे मित्र ने मुझसे कहा कि गर्मी की छुट्टियों में दार्जिलिंग चलें।

My friend said to me, “Let’s visit Darjeeling during the summer holidays.” (Direct)

My friend proposed to me that we should visit Darjeeling during the summer holidays. (Indirect)

My friend suggested to me that we should visit Darjeeling during the summer holidays. (Indirect)
